United_Bottle by Dirk Hebel and Jörg Stollmann, a water bottle that can be refilled with dirt, sand or insulation. In a crisis situation where water needs to be distributed the packaging also doubles as a building material for temporary shelters.

First prototyped in 2007, the concept is an incredible example of design with a conscience. In considering the afterlife of the product the designers have created a bottle that is efficient in packing, transportation and upcycling. Problems of quantity may still occur, however, in the consideration of the whole product life cycle, this is design for the future. An inspirational, thought provoking concept – check out structures built from the bottles here.
